There are a lot of things we use writing for nowadays: texting friends, status updates, blog posts, novels, etc. Pretty much every means of communication in this day and age requires the putting together of letters to create words to produce sentences to tell the world where/what/when/why things are happening. Much like this post, words make up everything we do, so when it comes to writing, what exactly can we use it for?
For me, recently, I used writing to put in my two weeks notice to my employer, Walmart. Also, I began writing "The Cure," which I hope to have finished by October or November.
But back to the whole quitting Walmart thing.
When they hired me back in April, everything was fine. There were three other girls in the department (Fabric, Crafts, & Stationary) and the work load was evenly distributed. Now, in August, it's just me and the lady who's been there for 20+ years and when I work, she's off, and when I'm off, she works. We have to do EVERYTHING ourselves, and there is no way in hell anything gets done with what we have to do.
So, to make a long story short, I'm quitting because they ask too much of one single person and don't bother to look into the applicants on file to hire more workers. They only care about their own personal gain, and the Store Manager is a (rhymes with witch) and the break room is like high school all over again.
I'm moving on to bigger and brighter things for myself (Medical Laboratory Technology school and my writing) and I don't want a frivolous job that helps me in no way with my life get in the way of what I really want to be doing with my life.
